Open meeting to discuss beach plan

East Meath residents are urged to attend an open evening to discuss future plans for Laytown/Bettystown/Mornington beach next week.
Meath County Council is reviewing the existing conditions at the Laytown/ Bettystown Beach and as part of this process it is proposed to prepare a Beach Management Plan (BMP) covering the area between the mouth of the River Nanny in Laytown to the sea wall at Mornington.
An Open Evening will be held at Neptune Hotel (Reddans ) on Wednesday 22nd July 2015 from 6pm to 9pm to discuss the plan.
Cllr Sharon Tolan explains that the plan will provide an important reference document for maintaining and improving the Laytown / Bettystown Beach, whilst enhancing the area as an attraction for beach-users.
“The Beach Management Plan gives us the opportunity to resolve some of the existing problems being experienced on the beach,” she said.
These include traffic management/ parking organisation, improvement of the Bettystown Beach access, provision of additional off-street parking and provision of public toilets.
“I would ask regular visitors to the beach local residentsand members of the public to attend the forth-coming meeting to share their views regarding existing issues at the beach. It’s up to us to look after this wonderful local amenity for ourselves, and for future generations,” she added.
