Thousands expected at navan cemetery ceremony

Thousands of people from Navan and surrounding areas are expected to attend the annual blessing of the graves ceremony at St Mary's Cemetery in Navan this Sunday, 5th July.

The ceremony will take place at 3pm and is one of the largest annual gatherings of its kind in the county, regularly attracting attendances of 8,000-10,000 people.

Traffic congestion is likely on the Boyne Road/Athlumney Road area in Navan on Sunday afternoon prior to and following the ceremony. St Mary's Cemetery itself will be closed to traffic this Saturday and Sunday. 

Other smaller ceremonies will take place in other cemeteries in St Mary's Parish next week: Donaghmore Cemetery on Tuesday 7th July ay 7.30pm; Old Athlumney, Wednesday 8th July at 7.30pm, and Dunmoe, Thursday 9th July, also at 7.30pm.
