Security stepped up at dunganny after another theft

Security has been stepped up at Meath GAA’s Centre of Excellence at Dunganny, Trim, following the theft of more than €5,000 of electrical cabling from the site.
The theft comes just months after a Hitachi digger was stolen from the building site at Dunganny which was never recovered. Following the latest theft, security has been increased and Meath County Board has employed a security guard after working hours, while two guard dogs are also patrolling the site.
Noel Dempsey of the GAA’s infrastructure development committee said some of the cabling that was stolen was already in place in the building while the rest was being stored on the site.
A large amount of cabling stolen with an estimated value of between €5,000 and €7,000. Mr Dempsey explained that the locks on the front gates weren’t broken and they suspect that the culprits used a wheelbarrow to transport the cables from the building to the front gates.
Work on the dressing room and administration facility is progressing well and the development is due for completion at the end of August, with an official opening expected to take place in mid-September.
The development includes six dressing rooms, a full-sized gym, a referees room and medical room as well as office and administration accommodation areas. There is also a small canteen.
Noel Dempsey and Liam Mulvihill are leading the project on behalf of Meath County Board. Trim Gardai are investigating the theft and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Trim Garda Station.
