Wet and cool start to summer

The June Bank Holiday Weekend is not shaping up to be the start to summer most of us would wish for.

According to Met Eireann, it will be mildest on Saturday, but turning cooler and more unsettled for Sunday and Monday.

Saturday will be the best day of the weekend with generally dry and bright conditions and rather mild, with light to moderate southerly breezes. There will be nice sunshine to begin, but increasing cloud will bring rain to all areas during Saturday night.

After the overnight rain, Sunday will be largerly dry with some sunny spells, but there will a few showers about too. It will be cool with temperatures of just 11 to 13 degrees Celsius in a mostly moderate westerly wind.

Bank Holiday Monday will bring wet and windy conditions to all areas with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, and it will be cool in fresh southerly winds.

The good news from Met Eireann is that much milder weather will develop from midweek next week - as usual, just as the State exams begin!
