Boyne valley food series starts this weekend

An Orchard Blossom Walk at Boyne Grove Farm outside Drogheda and a Seafood Festival at the Bective Restaurant, Kells will kick start the Boyne Valley Food Series this weekend.
Tonight sees the start of a four night seafood focus at The Bective Restaurant. A wide variety of fish will be on offer over the festival period with local catches and more exotic catches such as dover sole, lobster, oysters, line caught mackerel, plaice, hake and daily catch specials. The restaurant opens from 5 to 10pm each evening.
There will also be open days at the Boyne Grove Fruit Farm on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 6pm each day. There will be millions of flowers, lots of bees and bumble-bees and hopefully lots of other wildlife for visitors to experience. 
The Boyne Valley Food Series is an innovative food tourism initiative involving about 50 food and hospitality businesses in the Meath and Louth region hosting a calendar of around 45 events across the summer and early Autumn months celebrating all that the Boyne Valley has to offer in terms of great farming and food production, cooking and good old-fashioned hospitality.
There are events weekly from the May Bank Holiday weekend right through to the end of September.
On Thursday (7th May) Chef, Robbie Krawczyk at Tankardstown Estate will present ‘A Taste of the Estate,’ Guests will arrive to a drinks reception which will take place within the kitchen garden, or even in the polytunnel if the weather does not oblige. The Boyne Valley Food series will be previewed with a little showcase of local produce in the adjoining Summer House.
At the the five course dinner, produce from the garden, hedgerows and animals of the Tankardstown Estate will take centre stage, on a menu that will be decided based on what is ready and available when the day comes. Reception and dinner costs €50.
On Friday (8th May) there will be a Craft Beer and Food Pairing at Bru Brewery in Trim from 7to 11pm.
An evening of sampling great craft beers, plus sampling foods inspired by the beer, such as curries, brown bread made from the spent grains and sausages infused with the craft beer from another local supplier The Whole Hoggs. The brewers will be on hand to provide tours and answer any questions you might have. Tehre will be light music on evening, which costs €15.
