Serious assault at connells cross

Gardaí in Trim are investigating a serious assault at Connell's Cross in the early hours of Thursday 9th April.

At roughly 3.50am, a man was pulled in by what he believed to be an an unmarked patrol car with blue flashing lights and approached by a male who requested to see his driving licence.

The victim was then assaulted with an implement and knocked unconscious. He woke hours later, lying on the side of the road, to find that his van had been stolen.

The victim's 2011-registered Ford Transit was later recovered by Navan gardaí at Bellewstown shortly before 8am.

Members of the public who observed the Ford Transit, the vehicle with blue flashing lights or the victim lying on the road have been urged to contact Trim Garda Station on (046) 943 1222.
