Deadline for discoveryzone applicants next week

The Local Enterprise Office, Meath, begins a new delivery of DiscoveryZone on 14th April next.  The personal and business development programme provides new skills to unemployed and underemployed people. They are inviting such individuals in Meath to take part in this innovative twelve week programme, which combines training and mentoring. The aim of which is to allow participants increase their employability, or start a new enterprise and make new contacts in industry. With Recruitment for the DiscoveryZone ongoing and just 15 places available; applicants wishing to considered, must register by Friday 3rd April.

DiscoveryZone has already been a huge success in the county with previous participants completing the programme with a new business or new career. “Results from the programme so far have been fantastic” says Caroline Lynch, acting head of the Local Enterprise Office Meath.

“93% are in a new business or career, with 17% of participants securing new full-time jobs and 47% starting their own new business. We’re really excited about delivering the programme in Meath.”

Discovery Zone is a fully-funded programme delivered through a mixture of workshops, training and active learning assignments. Participants receive 36 days of face-to-face training, 50 hours of one-to-one mentoring and access to high-specification office spaces. The programme covers subjects including career planning, effective communication, presentation, planning your own business and Execution to a plan.

The 12 weeks include regular case study presentations by other business people and professionals who have been through the process themselves and who have successfully launched a new business or career. Previous participants have had backgrounds in manufacturing, food, technology, tourism, healthcare, green technologies, import substitution, childcare and many more.

The programme is different to other ‘start your own business’ or ‘back to work’ programmes in that it provides learning, training, mentoring, support and connections that will start participants on a plan for success and ensure they follow through long after it is over.

“Discovery Zone is highly intensive and it is focused on helping you to achieve your potential. It’s not a training course,” commented Gerry Moan, Programme Manager. “By the time you have finished the Discovery Zone Programme you’ll have plotted your path and you’ll be well on the way to achieving it.”
