Under16s no longer to be treated at navan hospital

From Monday next, 9th March, only children/young people over 16 years of age will be treated in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, including the Emergency Department. This will bring Our Lady's Hospital, Navan into line with paediatric age limits in other acute hospitals around that country that do not provide full paediatric services, according to a HSE statement.

Up to now, Our Lady’s Hospital Navan has treated children aged 14 and over, however, paediatrics has been redefined as under 16 years of age. Children and young people aged under 16 years will now attend or be referred to a Hospital that can provide a full paediatric service. Full paediatric services are provided at various locations in the north east including at Cavan General Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

This change in practice will not impact on current arrangements for Dental, Orthodontic and other community services based on the campus at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan.
