Secret of kells creators receive oscar nomination for new film

The company who created the Oscar nominated Secret of Kells, Cartoon Saloon, have again been nominated for this year’s Oscars.
The Irish animated feature film ‘Song of the Sea’ from Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon among this year’s nominees.
Directed by Tomm Moore, written by Will Collins and produced by Paul Young, ‘Song of the Sea’ is based around the legend of the Selkies and follows the adventures of Saoirse and her brother Ben.
Moore also directed ‘The Secret of Kells’. Cartoon Saloon also makes Puffin Rock, which has just begun airing on RTÉjr.
‘The Secret of Kells’, the animated film based on the Book of Kells, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2010.
It features the voices of Brendan Gleeson and Mick Lally and tells the story of an orphan named Brendan who is set the task of completing the Book of Kells. The task sees him called to a new life of creativity and imagination where adventure, danger and action await him.
