Meldon hugh award at carton house outdoor exhibition

Oldcastle sculptor Ann Meldon Hugh was named winner of the sculpture of distinction award at the Vanishing Art sculpture exhibition, an outdoor show in the grounds of the Carton Demense outside Maynooth.
The historic estate, once the ancestral seat of the earls of Kildare and dukes of Leinster provides the backdrop for one of Ireland’s most exciting developments in sculptural exhibition. The sculpture is taken out of the confines of gallery walls and displayed against the natural backdrop of Carton Demesne, transforming the landscape into an outdoor gallery.
The exhibition is free to attend and will run until 24th December, featuring over 100 artworks from some of Ireland’s most acclaimed artists. The €5,000 Carton House sculpture award was awarded to Ann Meldon Hugh for this year’s sculpture of distinction and there will be the chance for the public to win a sculpture by Ann Meldon Hugh worth €2,000.
A €1,500 award from the Bronze Art Fine Art Foundry in Dublin was awarded to a Summerhill-based artist Craig Blackwell, who specialises in polyester and epoxy resins.
The exhibition showcases the dynamic range of work being produced in Irish and international art in an exciting and untraditional way. It brings people out into natural surroundings, where they can see art through new eyes.
