Award winners in the two overall categories at the Meath Business and Tourism awards

Ghosts and beer top the charts at business and tourism awards

Brú Brewey and Haunted Spooktacular took the overall awards at tonight's Meath Business and Tourism awards at the Newgrange Hotel, Navan on Friday when they were announced as the winner in their respective categories.

Bru Brewery was established just over a year ago in July 2013 after a couple of years spent researching, planning and developing by joint-founders Paddy Hurley and Daire Harlin.

The company has recently secured orders from three large markets in Ontario, New York and Boston with the UK market also accessed.

The Tourism award was taken home by Brian Dillon of the Haunted Spooktacular at Grove Gardens - it places individuals into their own personal horror movie and has grown substantially in the last 10 years.

This was the fifth annual Meath Business & Tourism awards and the first at the Newgrange Hotel in Navan where some 300 guests enjoyed the occasion in the company of MC for the evening Blathnaid Ní Chofaigh while the key-note speaker was former Taoiseach John Bruton.

The Meath native received a great reception from the guests and is one of the most recognised faces from RTE Television with a career that has spanned 20 years.
