Local firefighters are among best in world

A team from the Meath Fire Service has taken second place in one of the competitions at the World Rescue Challenge 2014.

The group achieved great success in taking second place in the Complex Scenario event at the World Rescue Challenge, which is taking place in the UK.   

The 30-minute Complex Challenge involved extricating casualties from crashed vehicles in a set time frame – 10 mins, 20 mins and 30 mins, the time being related to the degree or level of entrapment of the casualties.  

Held in the Moreton-in-Marsh Fire College in England, the event attracted 32 fire and emergency service teams from all over the world, including a number from Europe, Australia and South America.
