Nicolas roche classic starts at fairyhouse next month

Cyclist Nicolas Roche, currently taking part in the Tour of Britain, hosts the third annual Nicolas Roche Classic in Meath next month. This year’s event, which takes place on Saturday 4th October is in aid of the children’s charity Barnardos.

Starting from Fairyhouse racecourse, the Nicolas Roche Classic offers something for cyclists of all abilities with routes taking in both 90km and 50km of the Royal County’s roads. It also promises to be Ireland’s safest family cycle with an enclosed 12km route around the famous race track.

2014 has been another great year for Nicolas who has completed both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France. Nicolas, who’ll be joining the cyclists in October, said: “I’m very happy to see the classic entering its third year and am excited that Barnardos are the chosen charity. I’m sure we’ll get a lot of support for this amazing organisation. I’m also delighted that Standard Life are supporting the cycle this year, as they also sponsor the Nicolas Roche Performance Team, some of Irelands best young cyclists.“

Barnardos works directly with children and families providing services and support in 40 centres across the country. Orla Tighe, Fundraising Manager at Barnardos said “We’re so pleased that this year’s Nicolas Roche Classic is in aid of Barnardos and we’re also thrilled that Standard Life has appointed us as its 2014/2015 charity partner. Without the support from companies like Standard Life we simply would not be able to continue to do the work we do. We urge all cycling enthusiasts to register now on www.nicolasrocheclassic.ie and look forward to joining Nicolas on the day!”
