Antibullying training programme at navan education centre

Parents from County Meath are being offered the chance to take part in a new anti-bullying training programme at Navan Education Centre on Monday 20th October.

The training will provide parents and schools with invaluable tips and advice on how to deal with bullies as well as teaching children about managing relationships, being resilient and having empathy for others.

The programme is run by the National Parents Council - Primary and Post Primary with funding from the Department of Education.

'Parents who have taken part are very positive about the training,' said Meath East TD Dominic Hannigan.

'They say it gives them more confidence when supporting a child who may be being bullied, as well as helping them to better engage with schools in cases where bullying incidents arise.'

Minister for Education, Jan O'Sullivan, recently added €55,000 to the anti-bullying budget to bring this year’s total to €115,000.

'This will fund more than 200 training sessions across the country, up from 105 last year,' added Deputy Hannigan.

'I would encourage parents and schools in Meath to take advantage of this really worthwhile training.'
