New parish priest appointed to Summerhill

Fr Michael Meade, the new PP of Summerhill.

Bishop Michael Smith has appointed Very Reverend Michael Meade as parish priest of Summerhill, in succession to Very Reverend Thomas P Gavin, Pastor Emeritus.

Ordained on 21 June 1987 in his native parish of Rathkenny, Fr Meade has served as curate in Castletown-Kilpatrick, Kingscourt, Ashbourne and Mount Bolus.  He has been parish priest of Donore since 2009. 

Bishop Smith has appointed Very Reverend Anthony Gonoude as Administrator of Donore.  Since his ordination in his native parish of Tullamore on 8 July 2007, Fr Gonoude has served as curate in Holy Family Parish, Ballsgrove.

Earlier this month, Fr Gavin celebrated the fortieth anniversary of his priestly ordination.  A native of Dalystown, Co. Westmeath Fr Gavin served in Tullamore, Kingscourt, Moylagh, Oldcastle and Enfield prior to his arrival in Summerhill in October 1999.
