Duleek drugs seizure

A 24 year old male is scheduled to appear before Dundalk District Court this morning charged in connection with a seizure of cannabis herb in Duleek yesterday.

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs, officers from the Garda National Drug Unit seized cannabis at a premises at Larrix Street, Duleek.

In a joint operation with officers from Revenue's Customs Service, they seized cannabis herb (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of up to €480,000

A 24 year male was arrested at the scene and detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Drogheda Garda Station.

The operation used advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. According to a garda spokeperson, drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.

'Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality,' he said.
