Two injured in Navan incident

Two men are in hospital and one is in a critical condition, following a violent incident at an apartment in Academy Square in Navan last night.

Both men, who are believed to be eastern European, are being treated for their injuries in Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where one man is undergoing surgery for critical head injuries today.

They are both in their 20's.

The incident occurred at around 1.45am this morning and is believed to have been the result of an aggravated burglary by a large group of men.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area, in Academy Street or near the Maxol Filling Station at around 1.30 to 2am this morning to contact Navan Garda station at 046 9079930 or the garda confidential line at 1800250025.
