Newsagent of the year

The network of newsagents and grocers across Ireland are the very backbone of the regional newspaper industry and rarely receive the recognition they deserve.

This competition invites readers and customers to nominate their favourite newsagent and also involves a judging process that will be carried out by the circulation manager and managing director of each participating newspaper. All Reader nominations will then be collated with one lucky person winning a meal for two in a top local restaurant.

"We are confident that this initiative will both recognise the valuable service provided by newsagents and also promote sales of our newspapers" said Dale Greenwood, Group Circulation manager for Celtic Media Group.

Judging will be based on 3 very distinct areas. Sales Profile – the management of newspaper sales, In-store promotions and the newsagent’s commitment to community covering their general engagement with customers, community and voluntary services.

The Competition commences this week with all newsagents receiving written confirmation and posters about the competition. This will be followed by in paper promotions and of course web coverage.

The closing date for all entries is March 28th and the judging will take place over the following 4 weeks with the announcement of winners taking place during week commencing April 28th.
