Tragic death of Oldcastle man

A 28-year-old Oldcastle man fell to his death in Sligo early today.
It is understood that the man had been a guest at the Sligo City Hotel on Quay Street and fell from railings at around 1.45am.
He is understood to have suffered serious head injuries after the fall from a height of about 5 metres.
He was taken to Sligo Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 2.30am.
Gardaí are investigating the incident.
A spokesman said Gardai were satisfied the death was not suspicious and described it as “a tragic, freak accident”.
The Sligo City Hotel is located beside City Hall close to the centre of the town.
