Meat firm wins Leinster rugby team branding for a day

Bank of Ireland ‘Sponsor for a Day’ winners Gahan Meats had their branding emblazoned on the Leinster Rugby team’s jerseys for their Heineken Cup game against the Ospreys at the weekend. The competition, organised by Bank of Ireland, was first launched last October and was open to all businesses throughout Ireland. The prize offered two winners the chance to win a sponsorship package at a Munster or Leinster Heineken Cup game last weekend. Valued at a minimum of €50,000, each prize included the winning company’s logo on the Munster or Leinster players’ jerseys; pitch signage; corporate hospitality for ten guests; a match programme advert; photographs with the team; profiling support from Bank of Ireland and Munster and Leinster Rugby.

Gahan Meats has been in existence for over 60 years and is a third generation family business run by Declan, Veronica, Nigel and James Gahan. The business supplies quality meats to a large number of the top hotels and caterers in Leinster and won the ‘Best Supplier’ award at the National Procurement Awards 2011 in conjunction with TIFCO Hotel Group. They also own two retail outlets, a factory shop off the North Road in Finglas and a traditional butcher shop on Collins Avenue Killester.

Gerry Prizeman, Head of Small Business and Agri, Bank of Ireland Business Banking said: “Our ‘Sponsor for a Day’ competition has been a resounding success. It was an ideal opportunity for Bank of Ireland to give back to the business community. Congratulations to Gahan Meats on winning the chance to sponsor the Leinster Rugby team. I am delighted that the competition has had such a positive impact for everyone in the company and we hope that the business will accrue many benefits from their association with the Leinster team”.

“In 2014 we will continue our support for the SME market through initiatives like ‘Sponsor for a Day’. Our dedicated team of business advisors are also on hand to meet with both customers of the Bank and non- customers to see how we can help their business grow and develop.” concluded Gerry Prizeman.

Nigel Gahan said: “We were thrilled when we were selected as the winners to sponsor the Leinster Rugby team. Everyone at Gahan Meats was very proud to see our company logo on the players’ jerseys and around the stadium. It was a true honour to be associated with such as successful team like Leinster Rugby.

“The competition has been a fantastic outlet for us to highlight our company both on a national and international stage. The response we have received from our customers has been overwhelming and I am sure this positive exposure will continue long after the match”.
