Cash-in-transit robbery in Ratoath

Gardai in Ashbourne are appealing for information following a cash-in-transit robbery in Ratoath this afternoon.  At approximately 2pm, two men armed with an imitation firearm threatened and held up a security guard outside a service station on the Fairyhouse Road.

They took a cash box (containing an undisclosed sum of money) and left the scene in a silver Mazda car. The car was abandoned a short distance away at Cairn Court. An imitation firearm was recovered inside the car. There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Investigating Gardai are appealing for information and in particular any sightings of a silver coloured Mazda Premacy car (partial registration 00 SO) with two males onboard in the vicinity of Ratoath village shortly before 2pm this afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on 01-8010600 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
