Declan Weldon takes over from Paddy Dwyer at the Gary Kelly Centre.

New chairman at Gary Kelly centre

Declan Weldon, one of the co-founders of the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre in Drogheda, has been appointed as the new chair of the Board of Trustees at the charity. The Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre was set up in 2004 to provide an environment of support, education and complimentary therapies for people and families affected by cancer.

Declan, who has been working behind the scenes since before the Centre opened its doors in 2004, was unanimously supported by his fellow trustees to take over from Paddy Dwyer who stepped down from his role at the recent AGM.

Declan stated that he is delighted to be taking up the position and is committed to seeing the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre extending its facilities and services further over the next few years.

It has been a pleasure to work with Paddy over the last 15 years. He has worked tirelessly to ensure that a Cancer Support Centre was delivered to the people of the North East. Without his tenacity and vision we would not have able to set up and provide a world-class cancer support centre.”

The Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre will be celebrating its 14th anniversary next year.
