Meath East TD, Dominic Hannigan shows his county colours for GOAL Jersey Day outside Leinster House

Hannigan's Green and Gold for Goal

Meath East Labour TD, Dominic Hannigan formed a colourful alliance with Fianna Fail’s Averil Power (Dublin) and Fine Gael’s Jerry Buttimer (Cork), to help promote GOAL Jersey Day, which will see people from all over the country wear their favourite sports jersey for the day on Friday 11th October, and make a contribution to GOAL’s work in the developing world.

It is expected that thousands of people in at least 800 schools and companies across all 32 counties will participate in the annual event this year. Some of the schools that are taking part in Meath include Navan Educate Together NS, Rathbeggan NS in Dunshaughlin and Scoil Cholmchille in Tara, while Alfco Farm Services, Regan McEntee & Partners and the Office of Public Works in Trim have also signed up, along with AIB, FBD and Ulster Bank branches throughout the county.

All proceeds from the event will be used to fund GOAL’s work with some of the most vulnerable people in the world, including  in Syria, where GOAL is providing displaced families with food and other basic necessities to survive the on-going conflict that has already claimed over 100,000 lives.
