Council sends sympathies to bereaved Navan actor

Navan Town Council is to express the sympathies of the people of Navan to actor Pierce Brosnan, on the recent passing of his daughter, Charlotte.
At last week’s meeting of the council, Cllrs Anton McCabe and Phil Brennan proposed sending a letter to the actor, saying Pierce Brosnan has been a great ambassador for Navan since he was awarded the freedom of the town in 1999.
Mother-of-two Charlotte Brosnan (42) died from ovarian cancer in late June, the same disease which killed her mother, Cassandra Harris, in 1991.
She fought the disease with “courage and dignity”, her father said. “She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean.
“Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl.
“We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences,” he said.
She was Brosnan’s adopted daughter from his marriage to his first wife, Cassandra Harris, a former Bond girl, whom he married in 1980. He adopted Charlotte and her brother Christopher after their father, Dermot Harris, brother of actor Richard, died in 1986, and they took his surname.
Brosnan has two children with his second wife, Keely Shaye Smith: Dylan (16) and Paris (12).
