Radio stolen from tractor in Ballivor

The theft of radios from cars is a crime that appears to be on the rise again, but in Ballivor this week it was a tractor that was targeted.
Ballivor gardai are investigating the theft of the radio from a tractor at Muchwood, Ballivor, last weekend.
The window of the John Deere tractor was smashed and the radio was stolen from the cab some time between 5pm on Friday, 26th July and 9am on Saturday morning, 27th July.
Anyone who noticed suspicious activity is asked to contact Ballivor or Trim Garda Stations.
Trim Gardai are also investigating the theft of a radio from a car parked at Navangate, Trim, in the early horus of 18th July.
There have also been a number of thefts of radios and other items from cars parked in Navan over the past week.
Over the last year or so Gardai have noticed an increase in the number of car radio thefts on previous years. It is likely that these radios are destined for markets outside the country.
Another item that is being targetted by thieves in recent times are the catalytic convertors from jeeps. There have been reported incidents of the theft of catalytic converters from a Hi-Lux crew cab in Navan and another in Trim.
These are expensive items and Gardai believe they are most likely being stolen to order. The items could also end up being offered for sale and Gardai are asking people to contact Garda if they see similar items for sale. Earlier this year, there were also a number of airbags stolen from cars.
In general thefts from cars are also on the increase with handbags and mobile phones being targetted. Graveyards, funeral occasions, weddings as well as the usual tourist spots and scenic areas are all being hit.
Gardai are advising people not to leave valuables in their vehicles if possible and certainly not to leave them on display.
There have also been reported incidents where cars are being stolen, despite the keys being still with the owner. Gardai are advising people to make sure they have two keys with the car when they purchase it and to be wary if they are only offered one key. In other instances, tow trucks have been used to steal cars.
