The Old Darnley Lodge Hotel.

Sale of Old Darnley Lodge confirmed

The Old Darnley Lodge Hotel in Athboy has been bought by a Meath-based family with a background in the hotel and restaurant business.

It is understood that they will take possession of the property at the end of June and will continue to run it as a hotel, maintaining the same name.

The hotel, which closed in January, leading to a 52-day long sit-in of employees seeking redundancy entitlements, was put on the market in March on the instruction of receiver Gerry McInerney of McInerney Saunders, through Raymond Potterton and Company Ltd, and Morrisseys.

The 16-bedroom hotel had an asking price of €650,000. It is hoped to reopen the business at the end of August.
