Navan schoolboys wow judges on 'Britain's Got Talent'

Two local schoolboys stole the show on last Saturday night’s ‘Britain Got Talent’ TV show as their performance of ‘Little Talks’ earned them a standing ovation from the audience.
Jack Duff (13) and Cormac Connell (14) are both second year students in St Patrick’s Classical School in Navan and wowed the audience, and also the judges, with their rendition of the Of Monsters And Men hit at the televised Cardiff auditions.
With four ‘yes’ votes from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon, the boys make it through to the ‘Reveal’ stage when they will find out if they make it to the semi-finals.
Judge David Walliams said they were “One Direction meets Simon and Garfunkel” while Amanda Holden described them as “gorgeous and fabulous” and Alesha Dixon said they had “huge potential”.
“It was good, it wasn’t great,” Simon Cowell told the lads but acknowledged they were nervous and he told them he did like their taste in music.
Jack is originally from Dublin but has lived in Johnstownwood for the past 11 years, while Cormac is from Beauparc.
They first came together last year to perform in a school show for the sixth years. Jack explained that their teacher asked him to sing and they talked about backing tracks first and then Cormac said he could play the guitar.
They got a great response and lots of teachers and parents told them they were brilliant and should keep it up.
Jack applied for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and the duo travelled to Belfast last November to perform in front of the producers and were delighted to be chosen for the Cardiff auditions for the top-rated ITV talent show.
Jack, his mum Lesley, Cormac and his mum Mary, travelled to Cardiff for the audition in January.“It was brilliant and scary. We were very nervous and very excited, It was a great experience,” said Cormac.“When we first went out and looked around it was pretty scary until you realised there were just the four judges there and you couldn’t see all the other people until they started cheering so it wasn’t too bad,” added Jack.
