Chocolate and crisps - do they mix?

The staff of the Meath Chronicle received an interesting delivery this morning - a consignment of cheese and onion crisp -flavoured chocolate bars, produced  by Tayto Park of Ashbourne.
For the last year, a plain bar of milk chocolate with the iconic Mr Tayto featuring on the wrapper has been sold in Tayto Park. A strong viral campaign and thousands of emails, tweets and Facebook posts begging Tayto to make the perfect chocolate crisp bar has resulted in Tayto creating a milk bar of chocolate which contains delicious pieces of Tayto’s famous Cheese & Onion crisps.
Ray Coyle, founder of Largo Foods said today: “This limited edition Tayto product is on the shelves today because people have been asking us for it. It’s a bit of fun, you will either love it or hate it, but our consumers asked for it and we said why not! There are only 100,000 bars in circulation and it is now on the market because of people power – no doubt about it”. More information on Tayto can be found at on Mr Tayto’s page on Facebook, or follow Mr Tayto on Twitter - @MrTaytoIreland

This limited edition Tayto product is available in Tayto Park in Ashbourne and will be stocked in Londis, Gala, Costcutter, Topaz, Spar, Mace, Eurospar, Daybreak plus other select retailers by the end of April. It’s a well known fact that Ireland loves chocolate, in fact, as a nation we consume most chocolate per capita (11kg) than any other country in the world. To create the perfect bar of chocolate, Tayto teamed up with the chocolatiers at Butlers Chocolates, who have been making luxury chocolates in Dublin for over 80 years, making the new bar a truly Irish product.
