The board of Directors of Navan Credit Union in 1972
St Mary’s Navan Credit Union will celebrate its Golden Jubilee over the next year starting next Wednesday 20th March with an Open Day at their Kennedy Road premises.
It has been serving the people of Navan for the past 50 years and next week starts a year of celebrations to mark this anniversary.
The main office will host a timeline exhibition showing the growth of the credit union, decade by decade, and featuring memorabilia of Navan Credit Union over the past 50 years.
Members are invited to come along on the day, view the exhibition, take a trip down memory lane and enjoy some light refreshments.
There will also be an ecumenical service for past directors, volunteers and guests.
The day will also be marked with the launch of the credit union’s new app for smartphones and tablets with a view to rolling out that service in April.
During the anniversary year, the credit union will be updating its online facilities and there will be a series of launches of new services, including debit cards and a suite of services for members who cannot make it into the office.
Throughout the year, there will be several more anniversary events and product launches, including art and photographic competitions, theatre sponsorship and other initiatives.
Navan’s Credit Union began life on 20th March 1963 with 18 founder members. It has since grown over the years to boast a membership of 30,000 today with assets of €160 million and employing 31 people in the local community.
The Open Day on Wednesday, 20th March takes place 50 years to the day since it first began operating.
