Trim councillor resigns seat

Willie Fay resigned his council seat at Tuesday night's meeting.

Trim town councillor Willie Fay has announced his resignation from the council. The Fine Gael member cited work commitments which was preventing him getting to meetings as the main reason for his decision.

A cattle lorry driver, he had been absent from many recent meetings due to his travelling around the country and internationally. He had been elected on the final count without reaching the quota in the 2009 local elections, filling the last vacant seat.

Cllr Fay said he was honoured to have been elected and serve the people of Trim, but he felt he couldn't properly serve his constituents due to his work commitments.
