Elderly Navan woman robbed in her home

A woman in her late 80s endured a frightening ordeal on Monday when two women who claimed to be from a day care centre, entered her home and stole money from her.

The incident happened on Monday evening at around 7.30pm when there was a knock at the window of the elderly woman's home in St Oliver's Cottages, Blackcastle, Navan. When she called out to see who it was, a voice said that they were from the day care centre.

When the elderly lady opened the door, two women entered the house. When one of them asked could they use the bathroom, they proceeded to search the house stealing a quantity of cash.

The elderly lady is unharmed but very shaken after the incident. The two women involved are thought to have local knowledge because of things they said.

Anyone with information or who may have noticed anything suspicious is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on 046-907 9930.
