Clean-up at proposed folk park site in Trim underway

Members of Scurlogstown Olympiad and a number of other groups gathered at the proposed location for the development of a folk park on the ring road in Trim last Saturday to clean up the site. A large amount of stones were picked and will be used by Trim Tidy Towns to construct raised flowerbeds on the approach roads to the town and quite a quantity of litter was also removed from the site. Other groups involved in the clean-up were Trim Comhaltas and Trim Chamber of Commerce. Exploratory meetings have been taking place between the steering group and Meath County Council about leasing the ring road site from the local authority. The group is also due to hold a number of public meetings to get input from the community on what it thinks should be included in the folk park. Up to eight full-time jobs could be created by the project as well as a larger number during construction, according to the steering group.
