Restaurateur's skydive for Indian orphanage charity

Navan Indian restaurant Copper and Spices is sponsoring the building of an orphanage in Pune, India, with the charity, Zest4kids. Among the fundraising that has taken place was a skydive by Carmel Corrigan of the Ludlow Street restaurant, in Kilkenny in August, which raised €1,010. A fundraising, ticket-only dinner will take place in Copper and Spices on Thursday 1st December, with singer Laura Fitzsimons entertaining. Tickets are €35. Also planned is a bollywood-themed event in The Palace in January. Copper and Spices have partnered financially with Zest4Kidz to help children in the slums of Pune receive food, clothing and an education. Zest4Kidz is an Irish children's charity dedicated to fighting injustice, loving kids like family and empowering them to live full lives. It is a grassroots charity, powered by volunteers. Since 2008, Zest4Kidz has been working with local organisations in India to bring light into little lives. Zest4Kidz is committed to local partnerships to ensure that the work they are investing in is both effective and strategic. In November 2009, they celebrated the opening of their first partner school and are planning the opening of their second school in 2013. Carmel thanks everyone for their kind sponsorship of the skydive and hopes for ongoing support. In March, Carmel will be heading out to Pune, India to help out. The group continues to need funds to help these children. Anyone who can help in any way should contact Carmel on (087) 152 2517.
