From Carrickstown to Carlanstown!

Jim O'Reilly and Sorcha Furlong shake hands outside the new Carlanstown home that she and Gordon Weldon have acquired from the Remax agent.

Actor Sorcha Furlong, who plays Orla Kirwan in the RTE soap 'Fair City' and her partner, Gordon Weldon from Nobber, have decided to put down roots in Carlanstown.

Having looked at numerous locations, they finally decided that Curragh Park in Carlanstown fulfilled their requirements for a family home. Jim O'Reilly of Remax Royal County in Navan handled the sale and is thrilled that Sorcha and Gordon have settled in well in Carlanstown and are delighted with their new home.

Her character in 'Fair City', Orla, is a former PR consultant, currently scratching around a living and aspiring to be kept in the manner to which she thinks she should be accustomed.

She is not the first 'Fair City' actor to become domiciled in Meath - Alan O'Neill, who plays mechanic Keith McGrath, lives in Ashbourne where he is married to Yvonne Tobin from Skryne. In another Ashbourne connection to the soaps, former 'Grange Hill' and 'Eastenders' actor Todd Carty, who played Mark Fowler in Albert Square and later appeared in 'The Bill', told RTE's 'Podge and Rodge' that his mother was originally from Ashbourne.
