Exotic birds stolen in Oldcastle

Profile by Noelle Finegan

Gardai in Oldcastle are investigating the theft of valuable exotic birds from a house in Oldcastle in the early hours of Monday morning, 21st September.

It is believed that three to four men broke into the shed at the back of the owner's house and stole the birds, which included pairs of African Gray parrots and young pairs of Macaws.

Gardai have said that the owner is particularly concerned about the Macaws as they are very young and, if they do not get their proper food, they could die. The birds are very valuable and are worth in excess of €1,000 each. Anybody who noticed anything suspicious in the area or who has any information on the birds' whereabouts is asked to contact Oldcastle or Kells Garda Stations.
