Gardai seek witnesses to early morning assault

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault in Navan town where a 31-year-old man was injured, to contact them.

The attack occurred at Trimgate Street, Navan, in the early hours of last Saturday morning, between 2.50am and 3.45am. Three unknown males attacked two other men. One of the victims was taken to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, where he was treated for minor injuires. Gardai have taken statements and are examining CCTV cameras in the area in a bid to catch the culprits.

Meanwhile, Navan Gardai are investigating a break-in at a house at Monktown, Garlow Cross, on Saturday night. The burglary occurred between 8.45pm and 9pm and the alarm was activated. The owner returned at 9pm and found the back door had been forced. Some loose change and a small amount of cash was taken.

Gardai are also investigating a burglary at a house at Canterbrook on the Trim Road in the early hours of Monday morning, at about 4.30am. The house owner heard a noise and came downstairs where he disturbed two male intruders. They ran from the house but had already taken a large quantity of property, some of which was discovered in a nearby field during follow-up searches by Gardai. A television, Playstation and phones were taken and some of the property was recovered.

Gardai also are investigating a car fire at Ashbrook, Clogherboy, Navan, at around 10.55am on Monday night. The abandoned vehicle was set alight but also caused scorch damage to two other nearby vehicles. Anyone with information on any of the incidents is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on (046) 907 9930.

Gardai in Enfield are investigating the theft of kegs valued at over €800 from outside a pub at Rathcore, Enfield, shortly after they were delivered last Thursday morning.

Four Guinness and two Carlsberg kegs were stolen from the rear of Boggan's pub. CCTV showed a black car in the area and Gardai are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching this description acting suspiciously between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Gardai in Trim are investigating a break-in to two adjoining houses in Mornington Heights, Trim, on Wednesday 23rd September. The occupier of the second house is believed to have disturbed the culprits, who fled at around 12.45pm when the man returned to his home. One was described as wearing a white hoodie.
