Enrolment is underway for the Kells Theatre School, which is now entering its ninth year.

The school now has eight years of very successful workshops and end-of-year productions under its belt and some of last year's show items included 'The Sleeping Beauty,' 'Cinders' and 'The Outlaw Robby Hood'.

The students acted, danced and sang well-known show and pop songs and solo singers also got their chance to shine. The aim of the school is to introduce children and teens to every aspect of drama and dance, including acting, singing, dance, storytelling, mime, voice training and lighting, set design, costume, mask-making, props and performance.

The school has an experienced team with drama tutor, John Grant; singing tutor, Kathleen McGovern; creative storyteller, Gaye Grant, and Helena Sheridan, dance tutor. The school was also very proud to publish a book of stories written by the students during the creative storytelling class.

Meanwhile, the new and exciting youth theatre class which has proven to be a great success within the school will stage an original dramatic piece of theatre for performance throughout the county. This class will be auditioned for enrolment.

Applications forms and information are available from the offices of North Meath Community Development Association, Kenlis Place, Kells (opposite Kells Credit Union) phone (046) 924 9300 or by contact John Grant on (046) 924 1316. The closing date for applications forms is Friday 25th September next.

There will be an information night for students and parents/guardians on Monday 5th October in the St Vincent De Paul Theatre, Kells. Classes will commence on Wednesday 7th October in the theatre.
