Great start to 2009 for Garadice man

Profile by Ann Casey

A south Meath man will be able to celebrate in style this New Year, having won €30,000 in the National Lottery"s 'Winning Streak Dream Ticket" gameshow last weekend.

Jimmy Manning, Garadice, Kilcock, who bought his winning ticket in Gillan"s, Summerhill, was one of five players who won a total €230,000 in last Saturday"s show on RTE television.

Jimmy, who works as a storeman in Gillan"s Londis, purchased his lucky scratch card in the Summerhill supermarket and there was great excitement in the area when he was selected for the show.

Jimmy and his wife Mary have been married since 1975 and have a daughter, Sharon, and a son, Keith. As a married man, he joked that it will be Mary who will decide how to spend his winnings. However, a new car and helping out his family will be on the agenda, he added.

Meath"s luck in the National Lottery continues this week with Cecilia Timmons, Ferndale, Navan, due to appear on this Saturday"s 'Winning Streak" show.
