Trim OPW project ahead of schedule
THE first phase of the OPW`s new decentralised headquarters in Trim is continuing ahead of schedule and expressions of interest are now being invited for the second phase of the project, which involves the fit-out of the building.
The construction of the shell and core element of the landmark project is being undertaken by Bennett Construction and is due for completion by November of this year at the latest. It is envisaged that the building be ready for fitting out in early November or sooner.
Mechanical and electrical contractors have been invited to express interest in the project and the closing date for receipt of expressions of interest is today (Wednesday). From this list, a number of contractors will then be invited to tender.
The OPW headquarters are due for completion and occupation in early 2009 and will bring 330 decentralised jobs to Trim.
The striking round building will be a landmark four-storey, circular building that will form a focal point of the new town centre development at Townspark south, close to where the present Trim Swimming Pool is located, just off Watergate Street.
The headquarters will, when completed, extend to just over 4,000 sq metres and will include office space, a cultural/exhibition space, staff canteen and landscaped roof terrace at third floor level. A four-storey multi-storey car park is also included in the plans.
