Marty Sheridan, Kilmessan

The death occurred on Sunday 17th August of Martin (Marty) Sheridan, peacefully at his home in Crerogue, Kilmessan, surrounded by his family. He was aged 69 and had been ill for some time.

Son of the late Martin and Mary Sheridan, he was a native of Gort, Ross, Castlebar, Co Mayo. Marty was a great family man, and his whole world was his wife and children.

When his father died suddenly at a young age, Marty followed in his footsteps and took to farming, a lifestyle that suited him being a great lover of nature.

He was to be seen on the sidelines of many pitches supporting his daughters and son as they played for Kilmessan and Dunsany.

For many, Marty will be remembered for his passion for music, his wonderful singing voice and his willingness to get a session started. His hearty laugh would be heard before you saw him and he had words for anyone he had the pleasure of talking to.

His memory will continue to live in the hearts of those he loved.
