100 jobs to be created at new Navan nursing home

An artist’s impression of the new 60-bed nursing home which will lead to the creation of 100 jobs in Navan.
Over 100 new jobs will be created in Navan as construction begins on a new 62-bed nursing home on the Commons Road.
Lucy and Thierry Grillet, who also run St Elizabeth"s Nursing Home in Athboy, are the developers of the new facility. The contract for the project has been awarded to Midland Contractors Ltd .
Some 40 jobs will be created during the construction phase of the project while an additional 60 jobs will be created in the nursing home itself before the end of the year.
The state-of-the-art nursing home will be built on a 2.5 acre site and will be a 3,500 square metre facility.
Mr and Mrs Grillet said Midland Contractors had been awarded the contract on the strength of their extensive knowledge of the construction regulations within the health care industry and their ability to complete large projects on time and within budget.
News of the new project has been welcomed by Navan Chamber of Commerce president, Mary Sadlier, who said the creation of 100 new jobs was very good news during the current economic climate and she congratulated all involved.
Midland Contractors Ltd have completed a wide range of health care projects in the past, which included the completion of a new hospital wing and refurbishment projects at Our Lady"s Hospital, Navan, and Cavan General Hospital; the construction of Meath Sheltered Workshop in Navan, the redevelopment of the HSE offices in Kells, and the construction of two large childcare facilities – one in Athboy and the second in Kinnegad.
The diversity of their projects has been critical to their success and survival in today"s difficult market. As well as their experience in the construction of healthcare facilities, they are construction leaders in education facilities which have, over the last year, included a number of school projects throughout the Meath area, including Cortown, Oristown and Carnaross National Schools. They are currently completing a project at Rath Cairn National School.
The design team for the project are Cooney Architects who have offices in Dublin and Cavan.

Hi im working for the HSE at the moment as a care assistant. i go house to house and look after the elderly .. Live for my job its the only thing i will work at.. my hours are been cut all the time because of the cut back so im looking else where for work.. lots of ref available.. irish and 33 years old..

I am now in my six month contract with iona college studying to be a health care assistant fetac level 5. At present I am doing my work experience in Sunhill Nursing Home in Termonfeckin. I have experience in minding my father who developed dementia and is now a resident in a nursing home.
