Water issues still dog Ballivor residents

A Ballivor resident was horrified to turn on the taps in her home on Wednesday of last week to find dirty brown water pouring out. Derbhile Jones, who lives at Glebewood, was disgusted to see what was coming from the taps in her home and said she had to let the tap run for 35-40 minutes before the water ran clear again. "We have problems on and off. It happens about once a year that brown stuff comes out. Yesterday (last Wednesday) was the worst," said Ms Jones. "It worries me what is coming from the tap as I usually drink the water. It is shocking. I have two children aged nine and 12 and they both love water," she added. Local councillor Tracey McElhinney said she had reported the issue with Ms Jones's water to Meath County Council. She said there are still ongoing issues with water in Ballivor and that sometimes a night there is very little pressure. "My argument is that too many planning permissions were granted and too many houses were built without the upgrading of the water and sewerage," said Cllr McElhinney.
