Plaque unveiled to honour veteran Kells councillor

Over 100 attended last Saturday"s ceremony at Suffolk Street, Kells, where local town council cathaoirleach Brian Collins unveiled a plaque to his predecessor, Jim Carolan, a veteran public representative who served on the council from 1947 until his death in 1973.

Kells Silver Band provided the musical honours and among the attendance were Meath County Council cathaoirleach Liz McCormack, Deputy Johnny Brady and Cllrs John Farrelly and Michael Lynch. Members of the Carolan familly were in attendance to mark the tribute to the Carrick Street native who was a founder member of Kells Handball Club and Tidy Towns committee as well as manager of the town"s cinema for over 30 years.
