Meath savviest shopping county

Comments (0) | Print | Email

The Royal County is Ireland's most savvy shopping county, according to a new survey conducted by eBay.ie, Ireland's largest online marketplace.

Shoppers from Meath are more likely to 'shop neutral' than any other county in Ireland. 'Shopping neutral' is a shopping phenomenon where shoppers offset the cost of buying new items by selling on old, unwanted items - therefore not spending a penny. Last year's winner, Westmeath, is now Ireland's fourth savviest county.

Coming second is last year's number four, penny-watching Wicklow which is followed by canny Carlow who come third in terms of cost-conscious shopping. Leitrim, Kildare, Mayo are placed fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Dublin, Donegal and Waterford round off the top ten savvy counties.

Surprisingly, Cavan, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo didn't make the grade, preferring to splurge than save.
