600 avail of open day at new Trim pool

MORE than 600 people from Trim and surrounding areas enjoyed free swims, trips to the gym and fun and games at the open day at Aura Trim Leisure Centre on Saturday. Children and families from all over the region were invited to try out the facilities for free at the new centre, which was celebrating its first week in business. 'The emphasis of our open day was to show everyone in Trim how we can help to improve their health and fitness, while having fun at the same time. Exercising can be a very enjoyable experience and at Aura Trim we ensure that there is an exercise routine or a class that will suit everyone,' said Aura eastern regional manager Josephine Pepper. 'We had a great response to our free fitness classes last week and people have been returning to us this week to take part in classes such as aerobics, Aquafit, spinning and rebounding. On Saturday, adults and children were able to sample some of the games available in our sports hall such as badminton and basketball, while others had the opportunity to play soccer on our two field turf pitches outside,' she added. Parents are reminded that Aura Trim will be holding free water tests this Saturday, 7th March, from 10am to 12pm for children who wish to enrol in 'Aura Swim Academy", which is starting later this month. 'The water tests will ensure each child is assigned to a class which reflects their ability instead of their age. The swim academy at Aura Trim will provide a bright and positive learning environment for children. Our instructors ensure that classes are kept small and there is a strong focus on fun and enjoyment,' added Ms Pepper. The first set of lessons commence on Friday 20th March, while there are also courses starting on Saturday 21st March, Tuesday 24th March and Wednesday 25th March. Meanwhile, the Aura Navan Leisure Centre will hold a 'Fitness Week" with free classes and health and fitness advice beginning on Monday 9th March. The centre is helping people to discover their health and fitness needs by running seven days of fun fitness classes and health talks for people of all ages. The week"s activities will include a number of offers such as 'Bring a friend for free", 'Two for the price of one swims" and free fitness assessments, while people will also get the opportunity to win three months" free membership for the centre.
