Navan blogger publishes first novel

Navan woman Fiona Sherlock has launched her first novel  ‘Dark Green’, for sale as an ebook in the Amazon store.

Set in Kells, during the 1970s, the thriller charts journalist Sarah McCarthy as she uncovers family secrets and links to both sides of the Troubles.

The 29-year-old Navan native has received a number of accolades for her writing in recent years; with her short story 'Bridie' was published in the 2017 Tales Irish collection.  In 2016, her story The O’Brien Hat was serialised in the Sacred Heart Messenger magazine. In 2015, Fiona was awarded the winner of the Wills Writing Awards for ‘A Toddler and the Grand National’. Her flash fiction story ‘When Will Mammy Be Back?’  was published by Number 11 online literary journal, edited by Graham Connors, in 2013. When not writing fiction, she writes murder mystery scripts to sell on Etsy.

A past pupil of St Joseph’s Convent of Mercy, Sherlock has worked in public relations for the past five years. She was also shortlisted as the ‘Young Communications Professional of the Year’ by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland.

Before joining Heneghan PR, she was a freelance journalist and has published work in media outlets such as Hot Press Magazine, The Sunday Times, The Dubliner Magazine, The Sunday Independent and the Irish Daily Mail. Her blog DiaryofDionysus.com has been shortlisted in the RSVP Next Top Blogger awards, DCU Media Awards, and the Irish Blog Awards.

Self-published by Sherlock, Dark Green is available to purchase for €3.50 in the Amazon Kindle store and can be read on any smartphone, tablet or Kindle device. https://amzn.to/2H5jTAL
