Rataoth stages Ragman

Staging in the Venue Theatre, Ratoath on Friday night, is Ragman, a play written and directed by local playwright Eileen Kavanagh, which tells the story of Christy Mullins (Ray Hoare) and alcoholic living on the streets of London, when he gets news from home that his only daughter is getting married. Christy returns to Dublin in the hope of seeing his daughter and wife Deirdre (Amanda Doherty) whom he has been estranged from for 25 years, only to discover their lives have moved on without him. The play lets the audience into the lives of a family torn apart by alcoholism; we see their history, their values and the life events they shared from both perspectives. This is a tragic story, brilliantly written and cleverly told by the actors, in a way which draws the audience into their lives – past and present.
