THIS FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CANCELLED

RTÉ Radio 1 is the official radio partner to this year’s Killarney Festival of Music & Food and will have a forest full of music, comedy and entertaining talk to keep both festival-goers and Radio 1 listeners entertained.

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June (2pm – 7pm), RTÉ Radio 1 will host an eponymous tent, in the beautiful wild surroundings of the Killarney National Park as part of the Killarney Festival of Music & Food. The RTÉ Radio 1 tent will host intimate acoustic sets with some of the festival’s headline acts; the Main Stage features music from legends such as Burt Bacharach, Jools Holland, Duran Duran and Father John Misty, and you never know who might drop by for an intimate performance.

The RTÉ Radio 1 tent will also play host to some of the best artists on the Irish music scene with special sessions from Wallis Bird, Mongoose, The Young Folk and Mick Flannery.

Says Tom McGuire, Head of Radio 1: “Radio 1 is inviting festival-goers to join us to experience special moments unlike any other. Our woodland tent will feature curated events from the Woodland Céilí to a celebration of the music of Joni Mitchell and Laurel Canyon. Comedy star Oliver Callan will perform exclusively, we’ll chat to iconic American folk-rock purveyor Father John Misty of Fleet Foxes fame, and there’ll be a tribute to Burt Bacharach’s legendary songbook. Radio 1 is a constant presence around the country and we plan to make a big statement in the Kingdom this summer.”

The tent will be opened by RTÉ Radio 1’s Kathryn Thomas at 2pm on Saturday.

For RTÉ Radio 1 listeners who are not at the festival, Kathryn Thomas and Cathal Murray will present A Night in the Forest between 9pm-11pm on both Saturday and Sunday evening. A Night in the Forest will showcase the best of what the Killarney Festival of Music and Food has to offer including interviews and highlights from the Main Stage.
