Midlands flightfest for abbeyshrule

Midlands Flightfest is set to hit Abbeyshrule Aerodrome this June Bank Holiday Weekend with a spectacular blend of aerobatics and family entertainment. A three-day event with nightly entertainment onsite makes this airshow the only event of its kind taking place this summer.

Saturday will be a preview day. The airfield will open to the public at 4pm and will include a static display of aircraft taking part in the following days. That night, there will be live music by Anach, a traditional Irish band from Achill Island, and Brian Brody, a huge hit in Dublin and all over Europe.

Sunday and Monday will be the main airshow days. The airfield will open to the public at 12pm and the air display will take place from 2pm right through to 5.30pm. Displaying acts will be Breitling Wingwalking Formation Team, A Hawker Hunter Jet flown by RAF Pilot Chris Heames, Xtremeair Sbach 342 flown by top Polish Pilot Artur Kielak, Cap 231 flown by Eddie Goggins, Rollason Condor flown by Andy Chadwick, Pitts Special flown by Richard Goodwin, Gerry Humphreys in his RV7, William Hillick in his Slingsby Firefly, and Dave Bruton will be busy flying his Sukhoi Su-26, 1947 Stampe, Bucker Jungmann and Piper PA 12. Also look out for Tandem Skydive Ireland with some daredevil acts and precision landings. The Irish Coast Guard also plan to drop by on Monday with their Sikorsky S-92 Helicopter. There will be lots to do for all the family, including a funfair, bouncy castles, trade stalls, food village and also some formation flying by Team Xtreme from Mullingar Model Flying Club and some amazing static displays of model aircraft and multirotor aircraft . Music on Sunday and Monday night by Brian Brody and local band The Aftermath.
