Childrens theatre in solstice

After a hugely successful world premiere at Dublin Theatre Festival 2014 and run at Baboró, Ireland’s flagship international arts festival for children and families, Irish theatre company Branar Téater do Pháistí, with Denmark’s Teatre Refleksion, bring back home their magnificent adaptation of Oliver Jeffers’ children’s book ‘The Way Back Home’ to 14 venues nationwide from next month, including Navan.
The Way Back Home is a theatre adaption of the book by Oliver Jeffers and this unique production - often an introduction for many young children to theatre - realises Jeffers’ much loved picture book into a beautiful and imaginative story on stage. Combining puppetry, animation, original music and the distinctive and evocative design of Teater Refleksion’s Mariann Agaard, The Way Back Home explores the boundless imagination of children.
The story is about a boy who discovers a single-propeller airplane in his closet, and upon doing so he does what any young adventurer would do: he flies into outer space! The story tells of this one boy’s adventure and the quest he must undertake to help a new friend he finds n his extraterrestrial travels.
The Way Back Home returns following its Danish premiere at the Aprilfestival in Denmark. After the 14-venue tour around Ireland the show will travel to Japan in July, and will be part of the world’s biggest and renowned Charleville-Meziere’s International Puppet Festival in France this September. Founded by Artistic Director, Marc Mac Lochlainn, Galway company Branar Téatar do Pháistí, is Ireland’s leading light in creating theatre for young audiences. The company develops and produces high quality theatre and tours both nationally and internationally. This show is suitable for children aged four and upwards, and stages in Navan on 14th May.
